Cleaning Out the Links VIII

Hey everyone, time to clean out those links and combine them with some Random Observations and maybe sprinkle my Crush of the Day in there as well. Everyone wins, joy for all!

-I just had some Krispy Kreme donuts and while they tasted great, I don’t think that I like them anymore. Back in the day, I would tear up some donuts like that several times a week. However, I’ve been trying to live a healthier life so that I can dominate my future grandchildren in backyard games and donuts don’t fit that lifestyle.

-I just finished writing a term paper for my sports law class and I almost wrote about college athletics National Letters of Intent. I ended up writing about negligence in combat sports but this article by Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated looks at NLIs in depth. It’s a good read: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/seth_davis/11/18/hoop.thoughts/index.html

-I haven’t been able to analyze this site some more, but this is a fun site to check out. It’s called Cot’s Baseball Contracts. Its fun to see the salaries and contract stipulations for players on your favorite teams. You see a contract like Alex Rodriguez and then you see one for someone like Josh Hamilton and its night and day: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/

-Michael Phelps was named the SI Sportsman of the Year, well deserved, etc. However, going back to the SI Valut, no one touches Wayne Gretzky in 1982. Read this article and you will understand. He did all of this at 21: http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1126259/1/index.htm

-Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal discussing the rise of college football in the South: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122843720586081461.html

-There are some articles you come across that you read and you say to yourself that this isn’t possible. This is one of them. I present to you Michael Vick and his spending habits: http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2008/12/06/michael_vick_fortune.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab

-Excellent interview with Bob Levy of ESPN. He may be one of the only two or three people I can stand on that network and Outside the Lines is always appointment viewing if I ever catch it on TV. He touches on that show and all other things in this interview even though he’s a damn Tottenham fan. Arsenal forever! http://thebiglead.com/?p=9512#more-9512

-Top 20 offensive names of bands. This isn’t safe for work: http://www.iheartchaos.com/2008/11/24/20-of-the-most-profanely-named-bands-ever-i-heart-music/

-Another link not safe for work. Ten great top-10 hottest lists. It makes sense when you read it: http://www.uncoached.com/2008/10/13/ten-really-nice-to-look-at-top-ten-hottest-chick-lists/

For some comic relief, here’s Leon Lett. I remember watching this one live:

-An outstanding college football playoff idea: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-playoff120208&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

-Top-15 Funny Family Guy moments. The link is here: http://manofest.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&show=THE-15-FUNNIEST-FAMILY-GUY-MOMENTS-OF-ALL-TIME.html&Itemid=1#readmore

One of my favorites is below:

-Finally, on Thursdays, I’m going to have a Throwback Crush of the Day. This week it is…

Jaclyn Smith! Hear me out. OK, I know that she’s 61 and that surpasses my 22-37 age range but I will make an exception for her. She is the only reason to watch Shear Genius on Bravo, not that I know anything about that show.

Everyone remembers her from Charlie’s Angel and that was a tremendous moment. Everyone was on Farrah Fawcett, but I was more of a fan of Jaclyn and Kate Jackson when I watched repeats of the show. Plus, her name rocks.

If I had to name something female right now like a baby, tiger, bear, goat, dog, cat, rooster or hen (I forgot which one is a male) or even a panda, it would either be Sophia, Kerry or Jaclyn at the moment.

So that’s the Crush of the Day for this evening, good fight and good night.
