NFL Week 11 Review and Jay Cutler's March Towards Canton Update

Hey everyone, its time for the NFL Review from the friendly confines of Nashville, Tenn. home of the Tennessee Titans

My fantasy football team has made the playoffs! Tremendous moment for me. Still have two more games to go so I’m not getting excited about it. I’ve approached every game one at a time and will continue to keep this mentality. In honor of my team, which is named Life During Wartime, here’s the song for inspiration and listening while you read my comments. WAR to the NYC and WAR to the Talking Heads!

St. Louis: I didn’t watch their game against San Francisco and honestly if any of you out there did, my apologies. I know that I’m supposed to give some analysis here, but I’ve got nothing. Congrats to Albert Pujols for getting National League MVP, he earned it.

Detroit: Good effort at Carolina. I like seeing Culpepper out there making a living. The Lions did get screwed during their two-point conversion when they were trying to tie the score at 24 in the fourth quarter. That was a clear facemask on Culpepper. However, to be fair, Culpepper did throw that terrible interception that sealed the game for Carolina. The interesting thing will be if the Lions keep Culpepper after this season. He looks healthy. Furthermore, Calvin Johnson and Kevin Smith have been pleasant fantasy football surprises for me.

Cincinnati: A tie, seriously? Blowing a 13-3 second-half lead doesn’t help. This team is a mess and they need to clean house on everyone accept maybe Carson Palmer. Everyone else needs to go, that includes you Chad Johnson. How do you give up eight sacks in a game against the Eagles, that can’t happen.

Kansas City: Welcome back Larry Johnson. I’m also enjoying the Tyler Thigpen movement, representing Coastal Carolina. Dwayne Bowe has come to life for them as well. But the reality is that their defense is bad and they’re 1-9.

Oakland: Still don’t get the DeAngelo Hall release but time to move on. Jamarcus Russell got hurt in the game but his indecisions continue to haunt the team. The defense comes ready to play but in that game-winning drive it gave up to Miami, they had to know that Pennington would be throwing short routes and they couldn’t defend it, including a fourth-and-5.

Houston: I actually saw a decent amount of this game and the Texans had some bright spots, mainly Steve Slaton. I like this running back a lot.

Cleveland: Well, they’re a respectable 1-1 in the Brady Quinn era. Defense looked feisty against Buffalo. Braylon needs to step it up bigtime if I’m going to take home a fantasy championship. Stop dropping the damn ball!!!!!!!!!! This team is finally starting to run the ball well also.

Seattle: Hasselbeck returns, nothing changes.

San Francisco: Congrats to Singletary for finally getting his first win as a head coach but beating the Rams at home doesn’t inspire me for the future.

Green Bay: I was watching the NFL pregame show on Fox and Terry Bradshaw was going off on blaming the Packers now 5-5 record on not having Favre and the team playing Aaron Rogers. Jason Whitlock has made the same statements. The Packers absolutely made the right move by getting rid of Favre. You have to make a commitment to your future especially when you have an old quarterback who isn’t sure if he wants to play or not. Rodgers isn’t the problem, the defense is.

San Diego: It may be time break these guys up and consider life without Tomlinson. Rivers is having a Pro Bowl season though and my team thanks him for that.

Arizona: Kurt Warner is the leading candidate for MVP of the league this season. They aren’t a fluke at 7-3. I don’t see them winning an NFC championship at New York, but making it to that game would be a nice moment for them.

Miami: I mocked their signing of Chad Pennigton, but it has been a good investment. And what about the rejuvenation of Joey Porter. Defensive MVP of the league.

New Orleans: I like Brees but those are too many interceptions he’s making, which isn’t his norm. Maybe he’s forcing things. Reggie Bush would be a major boost for them.

Minnesota: My biggest coaching pet peeve besides bad clock management is bad player management. Vikings are down by six with less than two minutes to go in the game and they have the ball. Who isn’t in the game? Adrian frickin Peterson. I wanted this live and was pissed and I’m not even a Vikings fan. Of course they throw the ball to Chester Taylor who fumbles it, ball game over. Brad Childress’ mismanagement of Peterson this season at times has been criminal.

Jets: Good win at New England. Credit is deserved to that team.

Indianapolis: Good win over Houston.

Atlanta: Expected yet unexpected loss at home to Denver. Ryan played at moments like a rookie QB and the Falcons have overachieved as a unit this season. Still, if they had any aspirations to make the playoffs especially with their division race almost over for them, you have to beat Denver at home.

Tampa: Quiet, efficient 7-3 team.

Baltimore: Losing to the Giants on the road isn’t shameful.

New England: They will probably find a way to make the playoffs but the big question is what to do with Cassel at the end of the season and how much will he make in the open market.

Jacksonville: Blew that Tennessee game and the end of Jack Del Rio’s run with the Jaguars begins now.

Chicago: Orton was back but they still got smoked by Green Bay. This is a tough team to read.

Philly: Not good tying a game at the Natti. McNabb is just not playing at the same level, but hey, at least their new star receiver is engaged to a former Playboy model and Hugh Hefner’s ex.

Buffalo: Lynch is good and all but when Edwards has three picks in the first half, no team is coming back from that.

Denver: The March Towards Canton for Cutler is still the same. Win the division first and things can advance.

Carolina: I’ve been saying that they are a quiet 8-2 team but I like one thing that they do, run the ball. That’s going to take them places, especially if they have to play the Giants or Cardinals on the road. This is one team I fear as a Giants fan.

Pittsburgh: Nice win over San Diego and Parker looks like he’s rounding into form. Most dangerous team in the AFC to beat the Titans.

Dallas: Gut check win at Washington. Still may not make the playoffs.

Washington: Not much really here about them.

Tennessee: If they can get more passing efforts like against Jacksonville, look out. They are still going to lose a game or two before the season is out.

Giants: Took care of business against Baltimore. No visible weaknesses and as a fan, this much success scares me.

That’s what I’ve got. Your thoughts are always welcomed.
