NFL Review Week 10

Hey everyone, its time for the NFL Review and this version is on the road. I’m in Buies Creek, N.C. and hopefully I will run into Ric Flair, one of my heroes, seriously, and acknowledge his greatness.

First, you need some music, here’s some A Perfect Circle

Let’s begin and Diesel, if you’re out there reading this, we may have to fight, just kidding, or am I?:

St. Louis: Remember when the Rams won their first two games under Haslett and I said that they may have hope. Those days are over. Did they even bother to show up against the Jets. I can’t honestly think of any highlights from that game to talk about for them.

Detroit: When I mentioned that Detroit was going to beat Jacksonville, you knew that I was joking, right? OK, that wasn’t a highlight of my prediction but let’s look at Culpepper being back in the league. I always thought that he got a bum rap and should have gotten another chance in the league. I know that he injured his knee and that messed up his career, however, when you see some of the quarterbacks playing in this league, you could do a lot worse than Culpepper.

Cincinnati: They were on bye and there isn’t much to add to them, so let’s get to our Crush of the Day! Per request of The People’s Champion, I’m going to talk about a lady that I’m a “fan” of. The first five women will be members of my Top-Five.

Katherine McPhee came into our lives in American Idol and has stayed in our hearts ever since. According to the Wiki, she’s 24 and fits into my age range. She’s from Los Angeles and not that fake, I moved here to start a career-type. She graduated from high school there. She’s also starting an acting career which I look forward to seeing. She’s married to a 43-year old, and you know what that means, Daddy issues!

I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, all women have Daddy issues and all men have Mommy issues. Another topic for another day, so lets move on to the regularly scheduled program…

What, would you rather read and see a hot woman or read my breakdown of Chad Johnson and Marvin Lewis? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Kansas City: Tyler Thigpen, who knew? I had no idea. I saw him play against Tennessee a few weeks ago and was uninspired and then he throws for three touchdowns on the road against San Diego. Incredible. I think that their game against San Diego was more of an indicator of how much SD is struggling more than KC’s good play.

Oakland: I can argue that this team is the worst run organization in the NFL and maybe all of professional sports. Why did they cut DeAngelo Hall? Even more importantly, why did they sign him in the first place? This teams needs to gut itself and start over and they are brining in overpriced free agents like Hall and Jevon Walker for what, the chance to win maybe six games. If we’ve learned anything from the really respectable consistent teams in the NFL like the Giants, Patriots, Steelers, San Diego, Philadelphia, Seattle and one or two others, you build through the draft. They’re trying to do that with Russell and McFadden, and props for that, but they need to do more and stop looking at free agents. They’re going to have to do that now because their salary cap is screwed for the next few years.

Houston: Sage Rosenfels, is that what you’re trying to sell to me Houston? Actually, he had a decent game but those two picks to Ray Lewis are drive-killers that you can’t have as a quarterback.

Cleveland: Brady Quinn actually played well, even though the game-plan he was playing under was more conservative than a Pat Buchanan and Sarah Palin Presidential ticket! I’m here all week and Bill Cowher is your next Browns coach.

Seattle: Seneca Wallace has to make more consistent throws.

San Francisco: Crushing loss at Arizona. You might want to give Frank Gore the ball more near the goal line. I wonder how Mike Singletary responds to that one. Does he go shirtless next practice? Does he throw on some shoulder pads and do some tackles with the defense? After his rant in the post-game press conference two weeks ago, the possibilities are endless. I would still not fight that guy in an alley any day of the week.

Green Bay: No one was stopping Adrian Peterson that game but they are still only one game out of first place in that division.

San Diego: I still say that these guys are going to win their division but barely beating KC doesn’t give me much confidence.

Arizona: Kurt Warner may not only be the comeback player of the year, which I have to think that he’s a lock for, is he the league MVP? Lets look at the top teams and the contenders. The Titans really don’t have an elite guy like that. The Giants, maybe Manning? Portis from Washington or Peterson from Minnesota? The Panthers and Falcons don’t have a major guy. Just something to think about.

Miami: Let’s look at the Defensive MVP. Obviously Joey Porter deserves consideration. Ray Lewis from Baltimore has been good, John Abraham has been a monster for Atlanta, Hansworth has been dominant at times for the Titans and there are probably one or two that I’m missing.

New Orleans: As much as I love Drew Brees, you can’t have that many interceptions on the road against a decent team like Atlanta and expect to win. Also, I didn’t like seeing that shouting match between him and Shockey.

Minnesota: The Vikings need to not outthink themselves and give the ball to Peterson early and often.

Jets: Darn, they’re 6-3 and making my prediction of them going 7-9 look bad, but look at that schedule. Anytime you beat a team 47-3, that’s impressive, but look at their schedule. They’ve played the Rams, Raiders and St. Louis. If they beat New England on the road this week, then we can start talking about bigger things.

Indianapolis: Still not a fan of theirs but they are finding a way to grinding out these wins and stay relevant in the playoff race.

Atlanta: Matt Ryan may be the most polished rookie to enter the league since Dan Marino or Lawrence Taylor, seriously. OK, Peterson looked sensational last season and you can’t forget about Jevon Kearse, Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson or even Randy Moss. The thing that makes Ryan more impressive is that first, he’s doing it as a quarterback and second, we all know how messed up Atlanta was last season on and off the field and he’s dealt with all of that.

Tampa: Congrats to Evan Longoria for winning the AL Rookie of the Year. That’s all I got.

Baltimore: I’ve been a big critic of Ray Lewis but that defense is looking frisky again.

New England: They’re going to win that division again and props have to go to Bill frickin Belicheck for making that thing work with Matt Cassel.

Jacksonville: Beating Detroit does nothing for me.

Chicago: I watched a decent amount of their game against Tennessee and Grossman can’t make consistent throws and that’s why they lost the game. Orton needs to get back immediately because they have the talent to win that division.

Philly: Didn’t beat the Giants so now I won’t acknowledge them. Furthermore, they can’t run for three yards with something on the line if their life depended on it and that’s why they will miss the playoffs.

Buffalo: Be very concerned, Bills fans, be very concerned.

Denver: The March Towards Canton for Cutler took an uptick this week with that Cleveland win. Their defense still scares me.

Carolina: Quietest 7-2 team that I can think of in a long time. However, if Delhomme has a game like he did against Oakland down the stretch, that’s going to hurt them in a major way.

Pittsburgh: Still think that they are the only team that can match up with Tennessee physically in the AFC but they need to win their division or make the playoffs first.

Dallas: This team needed a bye so badly and now they get to play for everyone’s job the next few weeks.

Tennessee: All that matters is that they keep winning

Washington: Similar to Dallas, got a bye and need it

Giants: Best team in the NFL, even better than Tennessee. The defense is outstanding and Brandon Jacobs is running for that big contract.

That’s what I’ve got. Your thoughts are always welcomed.

I'll be honest... I skimmed the post since I have been busy. But since you referenced my comments, I figured I shouldn't leave you hanging...

From what I read, this looks much more useful than last week's NFL Review.
