Return of Crush of the Day, Random Observations and my 250th Post!

This is my 250th post on Pourtout Pancakes! I think I’ve hit on all of my favorite music artists over the years accept Sade. So here she is with one of my favorite songs of here:

This blog has taken off to a fourm that even I didn’t expect. I’ll talk about it a lot more in my Sunday Reflections this upcoming Sunday but this will also mark the return of the Crush of the Day!

This is Kristin Kreuk, who I’m a very big fan of. She’s on Smallville, an underrated show that I wish I got into years ago. She’s Canadian, which is cool and is half Dutch, half Chinese and even has some Jamacian descent. She was also in Eurotrip. She’s 26, perfect age for me. I might have to move to Vancouver.

Here are some Random Observations:

-I wish athletes would stop coming up with excuses of why they sign big free agent contracts besides money. I’ve had to hear Kevin Garnett declare it wasn’t about the money when he signed the biggest contract in North American professional history years ago in Minnesota during his press conference. I’ve had to hear Mike Hampton, a pitcher, sign with the Colorado Rockies, a notoriously terrible team to pitch for, say that the school systems were a major factor in his choice to sign with them. I guess Denver is the only place with good schools.

Now, Mark Teixeira sign with the New York Yankees and talk about how he grew up in Baltimore and would go to Orioles games as a kid and wear a Yankee cap, declaring that he has always wanted to play for them. DJ Gallo of ESPN.com does a good job of spinning Mark’s quotes: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=gallo/090107&sportCat=mlb

Its seems like its protocol that when you sign with the Yankees, you have to say that it’s a great organization, you always wanted to play for them, your wife and kids love the NYC and there are probably a few more that I’m forgetting.

Just admit that the Yankees offered you the best financial deal and a chance to win. A little honesty isn’t the worst thing.

Many of us have the job that we have because it offered us the best compensation we could find, whether its money, power, benefits, whatever. Athletes aren’t different. I don’t get mad at an athlete taking the money, just don’t lie to me about it and think that I’m naïve.

-I tried sushi for the first time today. I was talking with Ms. Watson, who would be in my top-five if she didn’t violate FOUR of my dating rules, and she was going to a restaurant near work. I decided to tag along and tried a sushi wrap with tuna in it and a spicy sauce.

I tried two pieces and it was different. I must admit that it didn’t settle the best in my stomach but it wasn’t awful. I’m open to trying it again but not in the near future.

That’s all for tonight, good fight, good night.
