General Thoughts on a Thursday Night

Hey everyone, I really don’t have anything in particular to blog about. I wanted to just write about some things that have been going on the past few days and just ramble on.

-I haven’t been blogging as much as I usually do because I usually leave the house at 8:30 a.m. and don’t get in until 9 p.m. and am so tired. Classes and working full-time is kicking my butt but I knew that this semester was going to be rough. I just try to avoid being physically and mentally fatigued. The physical part is ok because I work out, eat right and get sleep. It’s the mental stuff that wears on you.

-My intention to “tap out” on women has been interesting this week. It been relaxing to not be concerned with dealing with women and I have had three incidents to bear this out.

First, I was talking with Amber earlier this week and she was going through a rough time because Hurricane Ike really messed with her hometown and her home got damaged. Her family is fine and when I saw her, the only thing I was concerned with was how she was doing and I wanted to help her in any way possible, whatever that is. I gave her a hug and reassured her that I was there for her. I joked with the People’s Champion and Icon to the Masses, Mr. Sean Sawyer, that the old me would have been so excited because that was the first physical contact that I’ve had with her in the year that I’ve known her, but I was more concerned with Amber as a person.

With Amber, everytime that I see her, I become happier just seeing her face. I just want to do the same for her everytime she sees me. It’s a weird mature mental attraction that I have with her that goes beyond physical. She’s cute, trust me, but the mental state that I’m in now makes me think clearer about our friendship which will be a good thing in the end.

Second, I’ve been interacting with someone the past two weeks and she’s a very nice girl. I love giving the fake names, so we will call her Donna. I cross paths with her often and that’s all I can say because she is definitely someone I can’t date. It isn’t a student-athlete, so get that out of your head. We were talking earlier this week and then all of a sudden relationships came up and I was telling her about how I’m not trying to date anyone right now after what went down with Maria. Donna was telling me that she was having the same problem and I told her that we should hang out some more. The frickin old me slipped up and tried to get a date! Furthermore, I was tempted to get her phone number so that I could talk to her more. But then common sense kicked in. I see her all of the time face-to-face, so why do I need to call her? Just let things take place naturally.

She kinda laughed off my request and I was quick to change the subject. I saw her today and it didn’t come up, thank goodness, and we’re cool. She knows that I’m not trying to hit on her like that.

Donna is a winner, trust me. She’s incredibly attractive and super chill and would be someone I would find interesting to date. I’m really not trying to make an effort right now, however, I think that is possibly working towards my favor with her. Funny how that works.

Finally, I was in a restaurant establishment last night and was minding my own business and the waitress was acting very friendly towards me. Not in a let’s get out of here and have sex kind of way, but in a playful potential flirtation way. I was just relaxing and not trying to be flirty or pick her up but I was getting a little vibe from her. The old me would have been trying to get her information and setting up a time to meet her. Right now, I just got her name and minimal background information, paid my bill and kept it moving.

Is it possible for me to get more women without trying?

-I was going to write about Vanderbilt football at some point this week, but just haven’t gotten around to it. I’m happy that they’re 3-0 and hopefully will make it 4-0 at Ole Miss on Saturday. After that game, I’ll have to do a post about the team because it will give me a clearer picture of what’s going on with them.

-I was in the locker room I think yesterday and I overheard two guys have an interesting conversation. One of them was talking about a landmark in Tallahassee, Fla., a church or some old building with historical significance being torn down so that a strip mall can be placed there. The other guy was talking about how he went to Birmingham, Ala. and saw a plaque that “stuff happened here” where a restaurant that had sit-ins during the Civil Rights movement used to be. Both of them were lamenting the fact that we are in such a rush to take down our history. I wish I joined in the conversation because they made good points. There are buildings and other landmarks in Europe that are hundreds of years old and I fear that we’re going to not cherish this type of stuff here in America. It’s a subject that I would like to delve into some more in the future.

-Darn, that’s all I got for now. Talk to ya’ll later. Here’s some Minus The Bear.
